Hon. Lawan Ya’u, the Chairman of Gumel Local Government Area in Jigawa State, passed away on the evening of July 5, 2025, at the age of 61. He died at a private hospital in Kano State following a brief illness.
According to family sources, Hon. Ya’u was rushed to the hospital on Friday, July 4, 2025, after experiencing a suspected heart attack. Unfortunately, despite receiving medical treatment, he passed away the following evening.
Hon. Ya’u, who was elected Chairman of the Gumel Local Government in August 2024, was previously a respected member of the civil society in Jigawa State.
He is survived by two wives and many children, and his funeral prayer is scheduled for Sunday morning, July 6, 2025, in Gumel, Jigawa State.
The news of his passing has deeply saddened his family, friends, and the local community, with many expressing their condolences on social media.
