Marcos Chapa, 18, from George West, tragically lost his life in a rollover crash late Wednesday night, May 7, 2025. The accident occurred northeast of County Road 103, when a 2015 Chrysler 200 veered off the roadway, leading to a fatal incident.
Marcos, who was a passenger in the vehicle, along with a 12-year-old male, was ejected during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. Both individuals succumbed to their injuries.
The driver, 19-year-old Elias Chapa Jr., of Kenedy, swerved to avoid a deer but lost control, causing the vehicle to strike a fence and roll over. Elias was transported to Christus Spohn Hospital in Beeville for treatment, where authorities observed signs of intoxication. He has since been charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter and remains in custody.
The community has been left in shock and grief following the untimely loss of young Marcos. Many have expressed their condolences and shared heartfelt messages.
A memorial service is expected to be announced soon by the family. The crash remains under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
